Oh yeah that one will be a can of worms sourcing parts , about as much stock on that bike as mine and I have a log book to keep track of what modes, tweaks and parts I used where. Going to be all kinda one off little adjustments to get all that to work right.
Clean build thou.

Yeah that can be a can of worms.. service manual won't be a lot of help.. mostly gonna be trial and error but now that we know what we are feeling with some it will be easier to help..
Looks more like a custom build.. Close up level pics of the rear will help us help you... Both sides and from the back..
Yeah, you guys aren't kidding. Seems I jumped into the deep end with this one. I spend more time online searching for info and parts than I do working on the bike.
I'm learning a lot though and I have started a log book for everything I find out about the bike.
The pic is when I first got the bike, I've done quite a bit since, including new forward controls, eliminating the foot clutch/ tank shift setup.
Waiting on parts to add front brake. Getting close to done!
I think I have the chain sorted out. Standard 530 non sealed is all that will fit.
I'll be sure to be more thorough with future questions. Pics etc.
Thanks!
Yup you did , bit of advice document with pictures and take measurements of things before and during any tear down you do. Sometimes with way tweaked builds like that on the older stuff you tend to get creative making things work, space and align correctly so it all plays well together.
PS hold on to any OEM parts no matter how trivial or whatever shape it may be in, early shovel stuff going up in price.
Hey now we are on the subject...while i change tires ...so John doesn't pick on me...lmao....what is a good sealed/ oring chain for my 82 flh-s stocker.....

i dont think there is much room for anything but a standard 530 ... O-ring too wide????................just out of stupidity............my 62 honda 250cc has the same chain and same number of links as the 82 FLH....530 100links whoda thunkit

never would've guessed. Chain rub the inner primary?
