71500-36A is the older part # which would be correct for 1970, not sure what other years. They are hard to find, if anyone is holding......................
At Rhinebeck 2 years ago, a guy had one new in the box with the keys, I walked away at $150.00. Next morning I decided it was worth it with keys, all original etc. Saturday morning, guy and the ignition switch are gone. Buy it when you see it. Still looking since then, oh well.
As you know my junk is never even close to being correct ....150 bucks ill twist wires together toss a chain over bike and lock it.....
i just rekeyed a older duramax....nope that wont happen again. Lol...this switch is to cheesy....take it apart it will be junk
Get a real one off of Ebay or the like... swap meet if ya got 'em... I will look But, I think I did a Newer pole type also.. One of decent quality is worth the Effort...
tiwan tedd - V twin has come out with is sold as a USA built switch we bought a hand full of them and hear is the skinny
the switch is a very good copy of the original switch - feels quality turning it - the tumbler has a key number and the key that comes with it is a copy of a briggs and stratton key like originally supplied - I would not use anything else I have had good luck with them so far 2019 to today BUT always a BUT - the chrome is not as good as one would like on the cover for the switch
just like tedd cheap out on the one piece you see so it get a bad revue - we have taken a cheap china shiny cover and switched it on a couple jobs but for most the chrome is passable
three are available in 5 terminal only
1936 to 46 cat eye dash type - 32-1524
1947 to 1967 tin dash type -- 32-1510
1968 to 1972 alloy dash type -- 32-1511
could the chrome be better this year only if it did not cost him anything

Just what i needed know....chrome? Meh..dont bother me...funtion more important as i tend to go a little to far on my own with no parts....or cell coverage .
thanks
off to play truck driver.....seems we are not scum bags anymore lmfao
I got a switch for my 92 here.( Part number: 71501-73A) Couldn't be happier with the quality. My old switch was putting out intermittent connections and wreaking havoc with my starting system. The guy at Deluxe HD Restoration got me a new switch and it looks to be OEM. Mark for mark, stamping for stamping. Even the new keys were marked Harley-Davidson. And it was made in Japan just like the original! They are out of Wisconsin, and are starting to carry more Evo parts. They have plenty of Shovel, Pan, Flathead and Knuckle parts as well. Just a good source for hard to find quality parts.
Older HD OEM switches can be rebuilt, but the parts are hard to find. fyi....

Reason: addendum correction
I looked and one of them must have been a Taiwan Teddy Switch that I re-keyed as well!!
That switch can have the Key cut on only one side... tho the key is cut on both sides [identical] to accommodate either direction insertion!!
This guy explains it...it's for a jumper wire (optional) I would PM the Guy (HD restorations) on Ebay just to make sure. He's pretty good at getting back you you ASAP
. Also....71501-48TA Replacement Ignition Switch 1948-1972
