Would someone please post a picture of the dash switch wiring for a 72 FLH. I have the wiring diagram but I'm not sure if I have the cables on the correct terminals. Also, where does the flasher for the turn indicators mount? Thanks.
your 5 oclock term is 12 volts in - ignition is at 11 oclock - do you have the correct 5 terminal switch or a 6
if you get the 5 oclock hooked with jumpers and they work turning the switch twice and it has power both times - the rest is lights - speedo - tail - headlights - stop light and the dash bulbs
the flasher is in the nacelle wire tie it to the grouping of wires - you could get a socket for it but they always fall out - from vibes
Thanks. I moved everything clockwise one post and it looks like everything works now. Even got the engine to fire on starter fluid after a long year trying to put this thing together.
ask away the guys all help out in the this section and will give you the correct info
Anyone have a clear copy of 72 FLH? Im rewiring the entire bike. ripped everything out starting fresh with all new soldered connections. Thanks Fellas!
When I got my 1978 1/2 Anniversary the switch was installed backwards. The lever was to the rear. Kept looking at it something ain’t right. Nothing worked except the head light, but no High beam, no turn signals, and the rear brake lite was on all the time. I did the 1/2 wire diagram enlarged it, and open the head lite cowl and seen these blue wire splices that guys use to hook up trailer lites. These splices were all over the bike, everywhere, when Igot the bike from a guy in Florida he claimed everything worked perfectly! Ya right! Anyway the fun begins. That was five years ago. I rode the bike after doing a wire clean up, did not rewire it. Just got those blue plastic ties gone. But the bike would cut out after about a twenty ride the coil was busted up,so that got replaced along with the wiring cleanup. The front brake light switch was also broke and the hydraulic connector was JB welded to the unit. That also got changed new resivoir, my last ride was the Christmas toy run. Really loud sound, I thought it was my Clutch, it was fine, the drive sprocket came loose, and the chain was rubbing on the inner primary, and to topthat,my tranny seal was shot made a mess. All that’s been cleaned up. I labeled all the wires but a couple labels fell off. Two black wires one comes of my ignition modal it’s black long enough to go to my battery or start relay that’s mounted on the bottom of my battery mount. Looked at my wire diagram and it’s vague on where my modular wire goes. AJ
