if you cant tune out the dead spot some get in the mid range - they make torque cones that go in the front of the pipes - it make a venturi out of the cylinder head exhaust exit
they are called - torque cones - we have also had luck with a carburetor insert called a turbulator mid usa sells them for the S&S - some will tell you its smoking mirrors but we installed well over a 100 at least - and you cant get the guys to remove it as they laugh at who ever
and that shovel engine loves this spark plug - bosch platinum 4022 gapped at .035
Cool beans. Ill give the turbulator a go and the bosch plugs. Running champions currently. Many thanks to everyones help and advice on this journey.
Went to torque the front axle nut to 50ft/lb per the Clymer's manual. Axle starts to pull through the hub before it gets anywhere near 50 ft/lb. Put a large punch in the hole on the right side and torqued to 20 ft/lb and could not remove the punch. I'd appreciate any advice so I can get on the road.
Back off the nut. Loosen the axle nuts on the right side. Use a hammner and drift to tap on the end of the axle (nut side) and the axle should move to free up the punch.
