Iron Cylinders only... No Iron motors except Ironhead Sportsters and Knuckleheads..

Why???
If quality oils are used [difficult not to] the Lubrication is plenty strong, residual film strength for Extended Storage..
Never took one apart that was "dry" anyway!!

I remember running with nothing but a velocity stack. I seriously doubt a little dust is going to hurt an engine.

Not trying to troll. As you can see from the brick...the bikes parked outside, under a tree.

I’ve read articles talking about how guys change up the oil system on these old bikes because the current setup doesn’t allow for a decent oil filter. Also said something about how dirt in an engine can get in between a piston and the wall then start grinding once it’s running.

two second google search, here’s the articles (article 4 is what I’m referencing):

thanks for the help y’all.

If you are worried then a squirt of oil is all you need. Even grains of sand will get coated and flash of as soon as it is started. You are imagining the worse case scenario where anything that might have gotten in has landed around the outside of the cylinders and is going to gouge the walls. Anything on the pistons will burn of and/or blow right out the exhaust.

I have personally put more miles on a Shovel with the old "horsehair" in-tank filter than any other bike or System... Maybe excepting the '83 FLHT with spin-on...Caution... it is Easy to get the wrong spin-on filter... less Microns Is Not the way for this application... I don't care what anyone says... I can Defend this

With the bike sitting outside I think rust would be my concern but not a big one.
