So, yer saying the Housing Nipple is 5/8, but the Filter end of the nipple is M16??
What is screwed up about the Nipple??
No, this is weird- the nipple is 5/8-16 on both ends. I think someone forced the wrong nipple in the plate. so the threads in the plate are screwed up.
Oh ****!! H-D part 62538-82 ... IDK cost...
But... Might be well off to MFG a nipple..
Your situation doesn't surprise me as an indy shop guy handed me the more common US thread filter for my 1984 and said this fits all of them. Nope, not mine, close but no cigar. And they are very close!
If it was me since you have to replace or make the nipple, I would use the US thread as that filter is readily available. The other one will most likely always have to be ordered in as it fits 1984 and a few other close year Harleys and Ducattis; not a very common filter. You do have the right Wix number for the metric.
