1983 FXDG Twin Belt Wide Glide
After a closer look at this FXDG there are just a few very minor things that i noticed, the Plug wires are not OEM, could be that they might have worked on the Ignition ? i would also looks to see if the Point Timing Cover is still there & you can see if it is still riveted to the Cam cover. As mentioned before the chrome Mirrors are not original to this Maschine. i also noticed the Fuel line from Tank to Carb has a cheep Fuel Filter , not really needed because the Fuel Petcock has a built in screen in it already. i would also have a look under the Saddlebags to se if they have supports under them & make sure that they were not rubbing the Belt Guard or the the Brake Calliper. other than these few minor issues the only thing else i would criticise is not being able the hear the Motor run, it should be a simple to push the Machine out side, check the Oil , Battery ,Plugs for spark & Fuel , if you put a Drip Pan under the Transmission it should catch any oil that comes out the blow by on the crank Case Ventilation Tube unless it is still connected to the Carburettor Backing Plate on the Air Cleaner. Also because there is not a photo of the right side of this Bike, need to just make sure the complete Original Exhaust is still there.
here's what the right side should look like with the stock Exhaust . . .
here's a close up of an Original Point Cover . . .
the Air cleaner Grill is also painted to match the other painted parts on these machines . . .
i wish you good luck on inspection of this bike , of course check the paper work , Vin # to make sure it matches the frame & abbreviated # on the motor , let us know how it goes !!

well heres what i think was An FXDG, sad to say the Original motor was replaced with an '84 shovel after the original motor was board out to 1600cc & then blew up ! this bike has also had the complete Brake system front & back changed out, the front OEM brake line is long obsolete , the owner also replaced the Disc rear Wheel with a cast Wheel & also changed the Twin Belt drive for chains . . .
not a bad looking Wide Glide , but was once a Disc Glide, i guess you could still call it a FXDG but the prospective Buyer say the frame # looks to have ben altered with a mix of E & G . . . ; (

this machine was slightly customised after it fell off a trailer while being transported to a Bike Show !!
Mike's newly painted Derby Cover, here you can see how the beautiful this color is , it really pop's ! great work Mike !
Re-furbished rear Pulley . . .

Mike's motor has an extra oil psi gauge ,just to make sure he's got oil pressure on initial start up
