Default 1977 FXE shake down runs.

Finally got her road worthy Friday, did 10 miles, Saturday 19 and today 24 miles. After 5 months every day (some days 12-14 hours) it was a great feeling. I had to rebuild quite a bit except the motor & tranny. I am happy how it turned out and she runs and rides great.
Pictures in front of Mom’s Biker Bar that has been shut down a long time.

That’s a super nice looking bike. I can appreciate all the work you did on this. It just takes a lot of time and patience, and a lot of struggling to get parts off and on.

I finished up my 79 FXEF this week too and put it away for the winter. I went through everything I could reasonably get to this year. I tore off a stupid drum brake wide-glide front end that a previous owner put on it. I replaced it with factory original everything on the front end. I am trying to get a picture put up on a thread I had earlier. I was unable to get the clutch basket off to get the inner primary off. Any more muscle and I would have damaged something thus causing even more work for this year. I tried every trick out there short off cutting it off.

Anyway, congrats on the bike. It will serve you well so long as you give it the TLC it will demand back.

Tom

Came out great.

Re: the forward foot rests. Did those come with the bike or is it something you fabricated and mounted yourself? Any clearance issue with your shifting on the left side?

What is the windshield and attachments from?

Thanks everyone for the nice comments. Been out in the shop all day, until just now fooling with it some more.
panz4ever, the Highway pegs came with the bike. They mount off the front motor mount bolts. They are not in the way at all. Matter of fact they fit me perfectly. I can shift with my heel if on the front pegs or with toe if on the mid-controls.
The windshield is an original NOS Harley Super Glide. in the box with paperwork and all the hardware. The box and instructions are brittle, but the windshield, brackets and chrome parts are mint. I jumped on it when I found out about it. I made some lowering brackets (but didn't drill any extra holes in the factory brackets) because I put the seat low on the frame and I'm a small guy. I have the top of the windshield right at eye level. When I found out about, he wanted to mail it, but I jumped in the truck and drove 90 miles one way to get it. I didn't want to take a chance with it getting damaged in shipping.

Here is a before picture, the two nuts are the front motor mount bolts and the peg bracket is actually chrome under all the funk. Before & after pix.

Default Windshield lowering brackets

I had to have a windshield or else my cigar would blow out of it’s ash tray.
