you have a dead short - first thing is figure out which breaker is clicking. then follow the wire(s)

Always a good place to start....the last thing you had off.

Are the wires connected to the correct circuit breaker as well as the correct post on the circuit breaker? Make sure that none of the wires that should not be touching are not touching one it shoud not.

Never hurts to clean the wire ends and terminal post and/or replace the breakers with new ones as the need arises.

Definitely avoid this

Anything can fail at any time when its abused -

remove the wires that’s really on the breaker popping - that are doing a a function and then the key on re attach one at a time and see what one is causing the short - now you have the color the wire is - first step - take a look at the wire diagram and see what it does

Or a pinched wire that is grounded.
You said you didn’t take off any wires except the blinkers were taken off. So you did take off wires. And there are a lot of wires mounted at the rear fender.
As mentioned, start pulling off wires until the short/clicking goes away. This issues should be a rather east fix.

I had a similar problem which drove me nuts. Bike backfires and then quits. No power anywhere. Start removing wires from breakers. After removing some, it somewhat recovers. Thought it was bad wires. Traced them. No shorts etc. Start adding them back on. No power anywhere. Ended up being the brand new battery! When un hooked it would recover a little bit. As you added wires it would drop from 12 to 10 to nothing! Finally figured it out when the battery was sitting off of the bike, fully charged on the bench. 12 volts to 10 volts to 9 volts from the multimeter's volt meter being hooked to it.

ETA: When they put the battery tester on the battery at the auto parts it was Good until they hit the load switch. Instantly to Nothing!

I would recommend going with what johnjzjz and lowoilpressure suggest....either a piched wire or one that is grounding out.

I would 1st look at the circuit breakers under the seat on the fender. You removed and replaced the fender. Nothing was shorted before but now you have a short. You said turn signals were removed for plating. Should not hear clicking short circuit breakers unless you are pressing the turn signal button. Take your time and look at every wire on every connection of every circuit breaker. One of them has a hot wire that is touching the frame or a ground wire or the fender.
