Default 1980 Electra Glide Value and Thoughts

Hi everyone. Recently, I came upon, what seems to me, to be a very nice bike and I wanted opinions on it as I'm considering purchasing it. It's a 1980 FLH which was originally black, and recently restored to baby blue and white. The seller is asking $10,000 for it. Total mileage is unknown, (right now) but there are less than 700 miles since the body and motor restoration work were completed. Here are pictures with a description included from the original owner in one of them. Thanks for any helpful thoughts you can provide.

Its a nice piece if your into the colors they used - to say its rebuilt and not having the actual bill from a shop is 2 different things

the wheels are re pops the chrome hub and spokes is the give away < way cheaper today to buy china both wheels then to re chrome just one real wheel

the exhaust is stupid loud hope you dont have issues with that - the guy living next to you will — handle bars are more like sportster bars then dresser

the fuel hose laying on the hot engine block between the cylinders is not the right idea - they make a bottom carb bolt / stud nut - hanger to keep it from being that way - and the brown stain on the petcock is fuel leaking not a lot but it is not sealing correctly

the lifter blocks are re pops in chrome and it has a cover on the nose cone the give away is how deep the point cover is - its really nothing but the coil is dual fire and the rear spark plug wire is always on the bottom not the top - that sort of thing to me a Mr Sloppy

the floor board rubbers are incorrect for the year real ones do not look like that - to me they are Twinkie board rubbers

i also believe the main battery cover is ribbed and not smooth — the saddle bag guards are incorrect as they are flat side shovel look alikes

gas tank badges are also incorrect -

The bike is worth what the buyer is willing to pay and the seller is willing to take, As far as resale, don't buy it unless you love it and plan to keep it. Be ready to put at least another $1000 more into it to make you happy.
Keeping the white grips, boards, and pedal clen will be fun.
If the quality of the build is equal to the spelling, that might be questionable.

Lots of repop and wrong year parts, $8K give or take on either coast unless somebody doesn't care about the details and just has to have it.

As John said what the owners claiming and what really is rarely match up when you get to digging in the mechanicals.

hey Dirty - are you buyin' it to ride? wrench? collect? polish? chop? the 1980 is not the most collectable years for a cone shovel FLH - that bike is not really a great chop or modify candidate given the price - might be a nice rider - looks nice if you like the baby blue tough guy look - seems like a lot for a rider - if it were a 1970 or 71 - the price would be more in line with the value - it just not a collector bike and it is not original - I owned a teal and white bike painted like that bike and it looked retro and cool but I got sick of it and sold it - next guy got sick of it and painted it red - now he cant sell it - those colors are perfect for impulse buying - nostalgia - anyway - you asked for thoughts and those are some things to think about - the truth - "you sell it when you buy it" - dont let anyone tell you otherwise
