Default Largest tire width, square swing arm

I have a 1974 Shovel with sq swing arm, what's the widest tire I can put on the rear, I like the "fat tire bobber" look. Will the 5.00x 16 classic tires fit? Will be pulling the rr fender off and struts. Thx

you should be able to measure the clearance between your tire and the swing arm, fender, chain, etc. and see how much wider you can go.

Have to watch the inner fender clearance with the strut bolts with the narrower rear fender like that, you can squeeze a 140 in if it doesn't have wide chicken strip profile and things are aligned right.

Those classic tires while good looking and will fit the narrow as end on a shovel ride like ****, they do not like wet. Ran then on pans and a retro build shovel just for the look.

the 'look' is what i was after, not a road bike. i wanted even more extreme but could not get the US Valley DirtMan tires seen on Annette Larues wicked 58 Pan in LowBrow Customs spotlight feature.

Don't get frisky with the riding and be careful in the rain they'll do it for you. I tend to ride mine on the harder side so with those the bikes always felt really loose and like to slide if your running decent brakes, just a heads up.

5" is 127mm. Im running the 140 Avon Cobra Chrome on my square arm bikes with a stock rim so I can ride it enthusiastically. The stock rim is also a limiting factor.
