All, I installed a BDL belt drive on to my shovel. Everything went smooth except that my bendix is now always engaged. I was wondering if anyone has had this problem before? I don't know if I need a different starter jackshaft or starter fork. I have been unable to get a hold of BDL.
looks like to me you might have a problem with your starter solenoid the handle looks like its in disengaged position but the starter fork looks like its in full engaged position , also you have a inner primary for belt rear drive but have a chain rear drive ? or could it be that you got a BDL primary belt drive that is supposed to used on a chain drive secondary ? there is a difference in the 2 belt drive systems . . .
ok maybe this will help, left : your your belt drive clutch basket for chain secondary ? . . . right : my clutch basket for belt secondary , i think you got 2 options , earthier change your inner primary to a chain / chain drive or get a BDL chain / belt drive clutch basket . . .
you can see the starter ring gear position is different for chain drive & belt secondary clutch basket . . . so it looks like you got the wrong clutch basket . . .
thats because it is not a Solenoid,
it is a manual switch/engagement lever,
that replaces the electricly engaged solenoid with your hand, which is more reliable than the
standard Harley set up which is just a jumble of missmatched truck parts from the 1960's.
