Default Passing lights flopping around.

I tried everything to stop my passing lights from shaking loose. Thinking about JB welding them. Anyone know a better way?

Two different things happen to the set up - one is the spot moves around or the blinker

the other is both move together — YOU did not say what is going on

if the spot is moving around - wizzes wheel a 9 /16 - deep 6 point socket on one side - so installed the wire passes into the socket and goes out the bottom of the cut - this will let you really tighten the spot real good

if the center stand off is not getting tight enough on the round bracket — and the works is move to the front or the back all as one piece —- we cut up feeler gauges strips and fill the round then tighten it if it stays - loosen and red lock tite is also a add to the make it stay in place your choice - we get it not to move at all before taking it back apart and red lock tite it - so its a two fer not a 3 or 4 times

The center stands were tight when I put it together, and I remember working on them on outers in the bike shop when I was young. I put two set screws in them but they keep coming loose. I don't want to weld it. If I put a roll pin in and used this gray jb who's gonna know. and may be it will be fixed for good. I have a lot of feeler gauges but... I don't want to have to take it apart to fix it for a while.

Home remade works with a hand grenade - a shop fix is just that once and its gone till its something else

good luck getting the JB weld off the places its doing nothing but being a bastard to remove - seen many a buy all new stuff and start over

At least part of your troubles are due to the incorrect washers you have on the passing lamps. They should be domed washers that fit into the cup area on the bottom (base area) of the passing lamps.

I agree with posts above, the hardware for the mounts are not correct and JB is not the answer.

But, I had a similar issue with my one passing lamp, someone in the past had even put a rivet though the bracket into the bar mount to get it to stop. It did not stop and looked ugly.

But at a decent swap meet or probably even the Bay the bar and mounts is under $50. That is what I did, found one without rivets and a good snug fit. They do not rattle around anymore. Good luck.

Mine rotated down on the round mount bar. I drilled through the whole assembly and put a 10/32 machine screw and nylock nut on it.
If I need to, I can easily take it apart. Round head allen screw, and nut on the bottom, doesn't look bad.

Glad to see all these answers, but too late for me. I had the same problem and never could get them tight. I ended up getting a new bar and light mounts (clamps). At least I have options if these ever go loose again.

JB Weld is the answer to the question nobody asked.
