One thing to remember
Every Used Harley I ever see listed has a New or Rebuilt engine..
Red Flag for me, I go the other way... Unless receipts from a Reputable Shop!!
A "rebuilt" engine can have different meanings - it means nothing unless you are familiar with who ever did it
If in person that bike’s fit and finish are all really nice, if it runs well, shifts smoothly, sounds right, if things such as the clutch, brakes and electronics are good… if last, you really like the bike, the title’s clean, I say it’s worth $8300. Sometimes guys remember yesterdays pricing… last week on this forum some dude said he can pick up low mileage mid 90’s running springers for $3500 all day long…. Then why isn’t he filthy rich by now?
Were guys on the internet who have not ridden, touched, smelled or seen these bikes in person. At some point you’ll have to be accountable for your own decision. Pic’s are deceiving.
And last… the very very last mechanic I’d trust with anything over ten years old is a Harley dealer. I’m sure there are some good ones.. but I’ve had the privledge Caugh caugh.. to fix some dealer worked on bikes. Take that with a grain of salt. Some guys worship the dealership and believe they do no wrong and are the last word.. Usually the same fanatics about Amzol like some kind of cult.

i have worked on old stuff all my life - if i had a quarter for every time i heard about a barn to 5 story building full of knucklehead parts in OEM boxes you would not need a lottery to become stupid rich
lots of no bodys like to hear them selves talk to be important - they are not today or tomorrow
believe only what you actually see and not what you hear -0- that will take stress from your life

Had it for 8 years, $5600 on upgrades with receipts including new paint, which I wish it hadnt, I prefer old and unfinished look on these bikes better. He didnt sound or look like someone who'd mess with bikes himself.
Did these come with Oil cooler? The oil cooler thing he mentioned kinda suprised me...
Very common for guys to put an oil cooler on Shovels. I don't think they ever came that way stock though.
Just out of curiosity, you have mentioned several times about this being a "project bike". Just what were your plans?

About 3 weeks ago here in CA, I saw a 2002 Dyna, with 30 something thousand on it asking $4100. The bike was not perfect, but it wasn't garbage by a mile either. Not everyday, but bikes have dropped so much from what they used to be. If a person is patient and if they are smart they can get a late EVO or early TC pretty cheap these days. What you used to be sportster prices in some cases.
