It's the Hitachi starter from the looks, not worth the fuq around playing with it, just replace it, do the battery cables and clean the frame ground points and get on down the road. Solenoid is probably arced out on the contacts at this point too, make it a package for peace of mind.
Got the new/old/rebuilt armature. It was an exact replacement. Armature already turned down, I simply ran a razer between the copper to clean it up. Put starter together ran a short test and it runs great. The starter wasn't under any load, so will be hard to tell until I install it. But it works.
I also have a brand new solenoid.
Soooooo, unfortunately I'm leaving town till after TDAY, so no time to install and test. Will post update after the holiday.
