1978 Electraglide Maintenance
This is a good solid battery that is also the same dimensions and same terminal locations as stock. So it is a direct bolt in with no need for shims or other BS. Nice bike, good luck.
The original brake fluid for your bike was Dot 5. Because it is difficult to know what is in there now, and you cannot mix any other Dot # with Dot 5, I would suggest cleaning out the entire system and starting fresh. I kept mine Dot 5 because my handlebars still have the Dot 5 stickers and I like originality.
Also make sure the full screen type cover gasket is in place on the master cylinder. If not you will squirter fluid out the tiny brother hole in the cover everything you squeeze the brake lever.
Good luck and enjoy this beauty..
May have so more questions before then, so Im glad I found this place.
Hard to say about the front brakes. See if there's fluid in the MC first. When the system is dry, it always is a pain to get it "primed". Unless you have one of those vacuum things (which you probably don't), fill MC with DOT 5, pull the hand lever the whole way in and tie it, or use a rubber band to hold it in......let sit over night.
Cover your tanks and front fender.
