Thats why I wanted to know the date on the "72" frame.
As for the Dimple Eric, I already looked but would need to scrape the paint off as the frame was repainted professionally prior to me getting the bike. I'll invert the flat horn tab and approximate where to put the p-clamp based on internet pics.
I know certainly '83 and '84... thought they made those changes on the rear Belt regular production models (1982 FLH)... But... I wasn't paying close attention..
Im not sure about changes for the belt but I was thinking 83 or 84 based on the lower rear forgings. Their rounded edges at the back suggest the forging numbers will have an 83 suffix.
It seems that at least some 83 model frames had rectangular two-hole blocks welded onto the rear downtubes but I dont know if that setup continued thru the end of the 83 model year. The rectangular blocks were done away with when the forgings changed but I dont know if the new forgings debuted late in the 83 model year or at the start of the 84 model year. It also looks like there may be a gusset plate at the back of the R-H rear downtube and Im wondering if it may have been introduced at the same time as the new forgings.
