So Very dependant on how much oil was dripping into it...for how long... I guess...at this point certainly if New to You... (I didf Not see if you had run it previous or had it apart) I would put a bit of oil into tank...just enough to Not Run completely out..
FWIW we ran our Dragbike on a bit less than a Quart...Total...and the Feed was bypassed a bit also... good oil don't require much.
A before and after showing the off center of the rear fender as how it came. The side of the fender was pushed in plus it had a 6 inch crack in it that had been welded up so I just got a nice fender to work with and got it painted to match. The used fender that I bought had a perfect tail light and license plate bracket that I used also. Hard to tell in the picture but the fender end was going one way and the tail light was going another. The area that it was bent in was a triple layer of metal.
^^ Looks too far right at this time...to my eye... Fatter Tire??
Wonders what it can possibly Hurt anyway!!
I have always been content to run O.E.... Why second guess the well paid engineers at AMF... the "new" MoCo... there I do Have Doubts!!!

Got the back of the bike finished. Wound up being a bit of an effort and money once I got into it. Changed out the swing arm, brake caliper bracket, rotor, pads, wheel bearings, seals complete rear fender assembly, turn signals, reflectors, kicker arm, and whatever else I forgot to mention. Think I will putter with the Road King for a while now.
A little more, but not much. A brake pedal pad that it never had and some NOS triple tree screws. Waiting on a part so I can put on correct front rotors and new bearings and seals.
I am replacing a brake line on the front of this bike and found that it has Dot 5 fluid in it like it should but the handle bar sticker said use Dot 3. After investigating what is going on someone put earlier bars on it. Got a set of NOS handle bars and now the wiring fits nice because these bars are 2" longer in that area. The top clamp was a solid high gloss black so I painted it a low gloss black and put a finish on the fins while I had it off and it now matches the risers. Plugging along.
