I see some postings about using the V-Twin part 17-0392 (OEM 35171-37) main drive gear spacer kit with a groove for an oring inside the spacer to prevent oil leaks. Is this just someone's answer looking for a problem?
I'm almost always suspicious of off shore hard parts being hardened properly, but some things seem to be ok. Anyone have any experience with these in terms of quality of the part, and do they help stop oil leaks? Or another brand that is available as the OEM part is not.

Use "Ray's Magic Spacer" I have one and it does exactly what it says on the tin, a marvelous invention and very well made. saddlebagrail@yahoo.ca will find him.
V twins copy is of corse a china POS the o ring does not even fit the seal race correctly and tears when trying to install - i have used rays and it works
i have a thing we do in the shop 40 years and it works for me
Thanks Spanners39 and John, I sent an email hoping to hear back soon.
Andrews mainshaft was on backorder for a while. I finally received the gear set and mainshaft last week so moving forward getting all the clearence and end play setup so I can get this one reassembled. The Andrews mainshaft has less than .001 runout.
In the mean time I picked up a backet 4 speed trans on the cheap that needs help, although it's not as bad as the one that came out of the FLH. It looks like the gears, main and counter shaft are reusable on this one.
One more thing...use a Supernut, but before you torque it up, check that the end of the mainshaft doesn't run against the Supernut seal, use a 1.2mm spacer behind the sprocket if it does.
I had this happen after I installed my Magic Spacer (nothing to do with the spacer) and when the oil leak finally got to me, I pulled it apart and found the Supernut seal was destroyed.
I also modified my output gear so it would take two wedding band seals, leak-free tranny now, for the first time since ages ago lol!
