Does anyone know the part number for this (I think it is a) heat shield and or have one to sell? Does master cylinder 3/4" bore sound correct for an '81 FXS?

I believe its the part of the frame the master bolts to if not look in the frame section

Good idea to look in the frame section but nothing there. Plus the frame is on the other side of the master cylinder in the parts diagram.

It's a heat shield. I did a brief search in the exhaust sections but they dont show it. The earlier bikes didn't have one, just a dent in the pipe to add clearance.

I found the same diagram you posted, shows the shield but no part #.

on my 79 FXS it was a ceramic/asbesdos puck, looked like a brake pad, with 4 ears to bend over the master cylinder, ill try to find picture and part number later

Yes the part is an insulator but I believe the part you referenced is for an earlier model ... OP's is a 1981 FXS
