I am in a similar situation now. I found your experience very interesting but your history seems to be missing and end.
I learnt from experience ... just like you about the intake manifold.
BUT what happened with the carburetor ? Did the Mikuni work well ? did you swap that back to the Bendix ?? is it a easy starter finally ?
what will you advice to help me have an easy starter ironhead ??
Not who you asked...But...Have had, and still Have, My share of Ironheads.. All run Bendix..except my Youngest Sons Chopper.. It wears an Original Screamin Eagle, Butterfly (actually it is basically an Andrews FlowMaster)
Ran absolutely Every known Carburetor of the Day.. 38 Round slide, and an old Lectron (still own it) Included.. I stick with Bendix..
BTW My National record holder in Stock Class! '77 XLCH, that I Drag Race..is consistently 13.00 E.T. at 100MPH, 1/4 Mile.. and it Starts Great!!
