22061175]That changes the whole equation, that frame & swing arm usable after cleaning, betting the trans case also. Got a good starting point. I'll offer this, I'm sitting on several decades of stuff, used, new, aftermarket custom goodies for building them, about all the real mechanical repair or rebuild stuff for shovel engines and trans. hard parts, had a shop running out of the garage and bought out a few closing over the years including Arlen Ness's bargain room when he moved. 71 this year and downsizing. Have a need PM me, what it cost if I have money in it and just shipping if I don't. Karma pay it forward deal for me.
As for the heated chrome, it's turned colors it's when it peels not if, on aluminium even a hint wouldn't waste the effort. I was sitting on what you have I'd be tempted to brush the hard rust in heavy spots and spray a sealer to keep the look, clean up anything salvageable and sealing it, tanks & fenders included, not a new bit of shine on it just to make a statement, survivor. But I'm weird that way
you got me thinking I dont have to strip it all down aside from the motor just clean up enough to shoot a satin clear but hell dont have to bother doing that. Hope the front tubes didnt leak out seals, rear shocks I wont know till pulling them, small stuff.

I'd still shoot a sealer as a rust killer. something about fire rust that just seems to eat stuff faster.
Rebuild the front minimum not that will help much seal kits are cheap, just replace the rears, heat screwed you on both even if you don't see it. Little tip, any 41mm tube front setup will fit you trees even the 1' axle years. Blow up the picture of the blue one I posted and you'll notice the late model dual brembo brakes tree's down were off an 05, guy swapped the stock rotors in had for shiny. You can find complete tube & legs and wheels pull off stuff cheap around shops and marketplace on occasion, serious ride improvement. Decide to stay oem and yours are iffy I have a couple stock early leg & tube sets, I'll donate to the cause for shipping, toss in the seal sets if I have them, just need a pic of the brake leg. Stock bare alum nacelle somewhere in a box, nice shape to.
And if your wondering a bit about why I might be offering, I got a thing about 72's, what my sig pic bike started life as, we're 43 years on now, I'll be a 72 next year.
When @TwiZted Biker mentioned fire rust, it made me think it would be a good idea to soak the frame tubes with PB Blaster for a while, so the inside doesn't rust. Swingarm too.

Do what you need to get the family and home on track, know where you are. Im still breathing when you get around to it were on.
22056410]That's difficult to look at. Sorry that happened.
There is a lot there that won't be usable. But there are a lot of larger items that are, frame, rear fork and trees. And you have a title. The engine and trans cases will need to be checked, but hopefully are ok.
You will be surprised what you can find at swap meets etc. But you will need to be patient because some items are difficult to find and you will have to sift through some junk along the way.

yes, its just tears me up because it was a fine running motorcycle, got plenty of looks.Ill probably go with the rat rod look. I dont know if I have the patience and time to get it back to original. I noticed already the push rod tubes are definitely loose like the seals are cooked and I hope I dont have to take it all apart just to look at the bearings and crank. I dont think any of that got damaged.

has a Bendix I think 28 mm, the throttle rod wont turn seized up. Keep spraying it every time I go to the storage where it is. Same with the throttle grip. Yes Im now starting to mock it up to see if itll run OK. Im not too concerned about the pushrod cover seals now.
