The Berndix of that era was 38 mm, and is plenty of carb if the engine isn't siginficantly modified.
WD40 is ok, but I prefer Kroil penetrating oil when theings are seized.
Paul
Got the Kroil smells strong, does better because I could finally break loose the hand spiral throttle. Cleaned all the drippings, turns over with compression and pumps oil out.

Glad you are bringing this back to life......don't let no "fire" take out a Shovelhead.
I mocked up the motor enough to crank it and it fired but not run the carburetor is iffy, without exhaust on it I see oil pressure taking and returning and is making it up to the rocker boxes oil leaking underneath fitting there as its running down the oil line, tightened it, but still wants to leak and
oil out of all four rocker shaft screws if those O rings bad can I get to those from the outside?
And the pushrod tube O-rings are all bad. Should oil still be spitting out of the lifters without the O-rings in there as I have the covers held up if is there o rings around the lifters?

I would think that ALL rubber parts in the engine would need replaced. And frankly, I would not stop at anything less than a full teardown and rebuild on everything. But....its your bike.
You gotta give me some slack here no oil coming out into the primary case or the timing house, its a 94 Ultima 1000 miles on it. So far I think Ill get by with those rocker box O-rings and lifter push tube seals. Some healthy signs of this motor so far.
Two things -
You can't replace the pushrod tubes without removing the pushrods. You knew that, but I don't understand your question.
Short pieces of rubber vacuum hose make better seals for the oil supply fittings than the too-short ones in the 'kit'.

The hardline running up to the rocker box thats where its leaking out of up there. Is that what you mean? So damn busy with other things I havent had a chance to explore that hardline yet. Im wondering about the tube O-rings would they prevent the lifter oil pressure from coming out? Oil spray cranking it over. Appreciate your experience on the motor.
