My 73 Shovelhead runs and idles good, but doesn't start when the bike is warm. Even after a small 3 minute ride, the bike is 'warm enough' to have no start.
When the bike is stonecold, it starts, with the enrichener on, within 1 or 2 kicks after 2 sprays and 2/3 prime kicks.
The plugs are sooty black.
I remember it didn't have problems with starting the bike a few years ago when being warm/hot.
No throttle, just ingnition on and 1 kick. Does anyone know where to look at?
Maybe a leak...maybe Not.. First thing I do with a hot/warm Kick only bike is put the choke On..warm or Not..it works.. be very fast turning it Off tho...or other problems arise!!
bet your running an S&S Boat anchor,....
get yaself a Lectron, has a propper choke, first time kick, better power, performance & MPG,.... made in Texas
best carbs I have ever used, had the all, SU, Harley CV, Mikunis, S&S, Screeming Egal the lot,... none can touch a Lectron,...
had one on my Shovelhead for 6 years now, have NEVER had to adust it FROM THE BOX & still is perfect,....
well worth trying

Oddly...I can say the exact same thing about my Stock Bendix on my 1974-74"
or my Properly tuned, and Installed S&S...both a "B" and an "E"... hell even my Butterfly Screamin Eagle (Andrews Flowmaster)
the Key is Proper Installation and Tuning..Real Tuning!!!

Hmm, I will do a leak test and have an extra look at the intake.
I have tried to start the bike with the enrichener on when it was hot, no effect.
Read on the internet that it could maybe a vapor lock? Noticed that the fuel line is very close to the rear cylinder from the fuel valve.
That's only an issue if you have one of those in-line filters between the cylinders, toss it so. Check to see if you are still getting spark when she's hot. Coils will do that or something losing contact like a weak circuit breaker. Chased that gremlin 1/2 day on a road trip one year.
