Default 76 FXE triple tree upgrade need help

Hello, I am working on this 76 FXE frame I got. I bought a set of triple trees on denniskirk that said exact fit. I have a decent 1” gap when dry fitting it without bearings to get the ideas flourishing. They are 5 degree trees. Do I need to put in a spacer to eliminate the gap? The gap is from top tree to bottom tree when fitted onto the frame.
Here’s the height different from stock tree to new one.

Did you get the correct tube size? FXE had smaller fork tubes, those tree's look like 41mm, and with bearings on and how they mount there will be no spacers.

I have tubes to go with these trees. I am just struggling with fitment onto the frame. If you are referencing the forks/tubes then I am good there. Just have a decent gap from top tree to bottom tree on the frame.

How does the top tree attach to the stem? Keep in mind the skinny oem tree the cap nut screwed down into things, stem was shorter than the wide glide trees, think that's was confusing you

The stem threads to the top tree slips onto the frame and bottom tree slides in then there is a nut that goes into the stem to hold the bottom tree in.

What I though, your good, Those just be sure get everything torqued right and check it a few times the first week of riding. I strongly suggest the lipstick tube blue loctite, you love that stuff.

Yes, each bearing will take up around 1/2 inch of your 1 inch gap.
