Before some one post an answer like just drag a hose it allways worked for me hear me out.
I have a flh with whitewall tires 80 spoke wheels and chrome drag pipes. I like to keep evey thing kleen on my bike, there are too many rat bikes around.
Question is I routed my breather to one of those traps with a filter on top. Problem is aftercollecting 5 drops of oil or so it starts to fog oil on my drag pipes and the rear half of my bike.
Why can't I drain this tap into my breather gearwith a fitting in the bottom of this trap?
Did it fog the pipes before you put on " the trap"? Do you still have the primary chain set up with the oil return at the bottom of the inner primary back to tapped hole on the case next to the oil pump ( the inside) ?
this was a new rebuild the breather doesn't seem to have excessive blow by and the motor doesn't sump.
I am runing a chain primaryrunning in oil. wasn't the breather line originaly routed to the air cleaner? I am about ready to reattach it
Is the primary case all sealed off with no hoses into or leaving ? But if you look into the primary thru the inspection cover there is say oil at the bottom of the primary chain to lube the chain?
I am not 100% clear as to the breather you put on it. But I am 100% clear on your situation. I run a breather with a check valve or flapper in it. Prevents air from being drawn into crankcase on the compression and exhaust strokes, which then has to be pushed out thru the breather hose on the power and intake stroke, thus the air and fogging issue. Note the chop, it is spotless, so oil is of a major concern to me, and I ride the beegeebers out of the pan.The particular one I use is J&P part # 400-538 $29.99. I have "cured" the oil issue on more than one FLH with this set up. They also sell a breather/collector which has a little holding tank on it, (too big and bulky for the chopper), Part # 431-336, ready?,...........$145.99 OUCH!!!, but it does not prevent the air in and out scenario.Hayden and Spyke make breather check valves (PCV valves) but they are rather pricey (for me, anyways) also. Another ? I have is,wasthe breather timed correctly? It happens, no matter how careful "I" say "I" am. Just a couple of ideas, cause I know what it is like to try to keep white walls white with a shovel or pan. Good luck. If you look at the pic, you can see the breather filter just behind the bell. Ther just happens to be a tab there on the frame that I mounted it to. I have mounted the new one on the78 FLH to the hole that the skid plate mounted in. http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/g...r/PICT0950.jpg
