I don't get in a rush. If you hang out where bike talk is abundant, someone will just walk up and say something about if you would like to buy a bike. About six months ago, I got a call at my office from a friend who had a friend going through a divorce that needed to unload his old shovel. I ended up with a '72 FX 1200 Superglide kicker for $2500. It is a pretty much all original Superglide. The only thing missing was the front end. I really wanted that drum. I ended up buying a drum front end at a rural custom shop for $100 and a real nice '74 disc front end for $300 with a new fender. All I need is an original seat and I will be ready to go. I have it torn down to the bare frame and will get with the program in a couple of weeks. New pistons, valves, paint, and stuff. This will make two shovels and a new Deuce. I love this hobby. Ken

Got mine when they were cheap.
$4000 cash, at a dealer's, end of 1982 in Boulder, Co. Dec 28 28" of snow on the ground and most all the roads. They were asking $4800 and the year was ending. Never regretted it.

Keep your ear to the ground. A friend bought mine and had too many projects had to sell.
The old beast was sitting at a fertilizer plant couldn't get it started (kick only) just had the tranny repaired after a self destruct. She had been sitting for several years everyone tried to buy it but the owner wouldn't sell until he finally gave up.

I was wondering where everyone got their resto shovelheads from? I have been searching for a restorable FLH shovel, but everything I find has already been restored and marked up outrageously. Any tips on where to look?
The reason they are marked up outrageously is because of the cost to do a restoration has gone sky high, especially if you want OEM. The cost for restorable scoots will only get higher, so bite the bullet sooner than later.
