I was wondering where everyone got their resto shovelheads from? I have been searching for a restorable FLH shovel, but everything I find has already been restored and marked up outrageously. Any tips on where to look?
I wish you luck, probably a bunch stashed in the barn under all that old patio furniture somewhere. I guess its like looking for classic cars and trucks. Good Luck!

I see them pretty regular on the Portland (Oregon that is) Craigs list from $4000 - $8000. Just gotta keep watchin for em!!!
another good thing is to take out a wanted ad in one of those motorcycle traders, the ones that are nation wide. lots of older cats read those and dont necessarily cruise e bay and craigs. what ive found too. Is most of the people that have restorable shovels and read those mags are usually pretty fair on the price. Ive found the restorable pans and shovels on e bay and craigs are usually getting high balled by europeans, nothing against them but if they are bidding... they got coin to spend. Way out of my league. I want to have some left for the resto. the main thing, figure what you want to pay. put it away and look look look, when you find, pounce on it. if you want to wait a couple of days to think about it its gone. Oh a new thing too, you tube lots of guys put a clip of their bike running or in parts and sell it off you tube. god luck lots of fun. .02
Took me almost 2 years to find my 76 Bi-Centennial FLH. After checking the usual places I found it via word-of-mouth. project shovels in Kalif go about 5-7K. With that comes major components needed fro assembly and/or rebuild.
If you are careful and patient, you can get what you want. Not sure how much you know about shovels but if you start looking it is always helpful to have someone with you with a bit of knowledge when you start seriously looking. Folks claimthey havecertain shovel, a certain model to sell, new owner buys it, starts checking vin/production nmbers and finds what he really has is an FLH that really started life as an FX.
