Default Solid lifters

Someone I know wants to change to solid lifters He has a 78 shovelhead 1340 80". Any advice and how many flats to adjust?

If it is a kick start only, you need to keep it tuned or it's a byotch to start...

Forget the flats One adjusts solids as follows turn the engine slowly (kicker or trany in 4th gear rear wheel off the ground rotate wheel ) watch the pushrod go up than down at this position (bottom of the cam lobe ) adjust the pushrod so it rotates tightly in your fingers move on to the next pushrod do the same procedure Don't let anybody tell you that you can't run solids with a hydraulic lifter cam I did it for 40K miles on my 1979 shovel Flats are for hyd lifters !
