Default Kicker Issues

Hello All,
I've got an 1984 FLH, with S&S Super E and Electric & Kicker. A few months ago, I started having trouble kick starting her. Before that, she was a 2-3 prime kick ignition off, and then 1-2 kicks ignition on. Now, she won't kick start at all. Fortunately, I have an electric starter on her also and that is the only way she starts. Anyone out there knows why it doesn't kick start anymore. She starts pretty easily and quickly with the electric starter so can it still be an issue w/ the plugs and/or coil? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Ya, its all about air, fuel, spark. Try new plugs (how are they burning), maybe a different combination of pumping it. If you got Electronic Ign you shouldn't have to change the timming but you could try tweaking a little. My Lowrider is hard starting cold but hot it starts before the kicker gets to the bottom.

Maybe the clutches are slipping alittle Pull off the derby cover and as you kick it over see if the clutch basket turns without slip ?

Would the clutches still slip even with easy starting using the electric starter? When I ratchet the kicker arm into the position and give it a kick, I can feel the compression stroke turn but all I get at best is alittle "poof" thru the tail pipes. Kinda sucks considering that it was such an easy bike to kick before this problem.

When you hit the electric start the clutch basket turns hence the motor This has nothing to do with the clutch Normally when one kicks over a bike one can feel slip maybe ! When you kick start a bike the clutch has to be right (no slippage )

Thanks SDGeorge, I'll pull off the derby and ck the clutch. If its slipping, what advice could you give to alleviate slippage? I'm fairly new to owning this bike.

A couple questions On the clutch lever (handlebar ) Does the clutch release at the end of the travel or half way out When you take off the derby cover are there 3 studs looking at you and 10 springs under a plate (clutch basket ) ? I'm trying to see if you have a stock orig dry clutch system If you do turn the 3 nuts on the plate over the springs 1/2 turn clockwise ( those nuts will lock up every half turn ) Of course this only good if it is the clutch that is slipping Try it

I finally resolved the issue. Spec Tks to SDGeorge and 78 for the info. I've ckd the clutch and it was not slipping. It is a dry clutch and foot operated. Seemed like the issue was carburetion related and I believe I got that squared away. This issue started 2 months ago after I removed the carb to clean it up. Adjustment was not right. Just this morning it started up easily after 2 primes ignition off and 1 kick ignition on. I think I'm going to buy a factory manual instead of troubleshooting blindly.
