Default First rebuild

My bikes on it's last legs. I need to over haul the motor it's burning way to much oil. I never rebuild a bike motor before. I have redone a few chevys.
I'm trying to get a idea on much it's going to cost.
I want to up the comp to 10:1 and maybe install a cam. the thing I don;t understand is it's got 4 cams. dose comp cam sell all four for $156. And andrews is $400?

I see they have new Replacement Cylinder are they already to be used or do they need to be machined?

The cams you list are for 2 different bikes. A shovel and a Sportster. What bike do you have? A sporty has 4 cams and a shovel has 1. Before you go changing cams you have to decide what your looking for in a cam, as well as where do you want the power. Do you want low end grunt, or top end pull like a runaway train?. you usally can have one or the other, but not both equally as strong. Go to Knightrider.com and read about cam specs and what power and where they make it. This way if all you want is a bar hopper, you won't put a top end cam that comes on at 4500 rpms and not be able to feel any difference over stock. Hope this helps.,,

yeah it's a sportster
it doesn't seem worth in to spend almost $400 dollars just to get the cam.
