DO NOT USE WD-40!!! its not a lube! something like dryslide, lubit-8, or a light OIL. wd 40 is more of a cleaner/water displacer. if you use it and nothing else your cable will be toast in no time.
learned it the hard way 15 years ago with my first bike and the drive chain......... lasted about 50 miles after hosing it with wd........... lol. live and learn.
