I would like some suggestions on the best way to go when replacing the cluch. I have a 82 FXR. I took the clutch apart due to dragging and not being le to properly adjust the clutch. What I found, is a clutch shell and everything else needing replaced. I have a compete tear down and rebuild planned for the upcoming winter. Since I have to make the repairs now, I do not want to buy parts now that I wll end up replacing in the major rebuild. For now I plan on staying with the primary and final drive chains.
With all that, my question is, What is the best clutch set up to go with? The stock set up leaves a lot to be desired, so what have other membersused and how satisified were you with the results? Any suggestions on who to purchase the parts from is appreciated.

barnet is a great clutch a little pricie the altos or privite lable drag specialties privite label clutchs are great and a lot cheeper. best bang for the dollar is the altos also untill you take it apart you will not know what is needed at least pick up the fibers and the steels if needed neither one is too expensive so u might just want too replace both while your in there also u will need a gasket and primary fluid and check the chain and adjuster while you have the cover off.

Thanks for your response. I have already tore it down and I have to pretty much replace everything. Since that is the case, I am trying to decide if going with a diaphragm instead of spring set up is the better way to go? Looks like by the time I have replaced everything i already have, I may be better off switching it all out now. No sense iin doing it twice!
the pro clutch with the diaphram are great clutch setups we got one in a 91 fxr with a s&s motor this bike is ridden every day in nyc and beat on and it works great
