Not really. Your bike being a solid mount probablly shares more roots with the early Evo Wide Glides than the Dyna's. Though in the 90's Harley went out of there way to trace the look of the 70's Shovels with the new Dyna's. Post up some pics and show her off. We love Shovelporn.

wish i knew...

heres the history on the bike.

my uncle bought the bike out of the showroom... he dumped soooooo much money, time, and effort into it. Think he ran into money problems or something and sold it to his "buddy".. his buddy did ZERO work to the bike.

The tables turned and the guy got into money problems, so my uncle was gonna buy it back, herd i was lookin for a bike so hooked me up with it. Thought i was getting an amazing deal.($5000)

when i bought it i was told that all it would need is head gaskets... possibly a top end... nutin major

Brought it to a local bike shop to go over it after i bought it.... turns out that it was beat to crap and that it needs SOO much work its unbelievable.
Already have a bill of around $2500 at the shop and he didnt even get it to start yet! I hope this isnt the start of a mistake. lol

Everyone i talk to says that the bikes worth around 9 grand... so i guess im still ahead of the game in a sence

If you plan on taking it to the shop for everything it needs, a shovelhead may not be for you. Not to say you will always be fixing a shovel, but they do need plenty of TLC. Regular maintenance will keep them running good, and it's best if you know how to do it yourself, or it will cost you.

Looks good. I'm into mine for about $8,500.00. purchase, shipping from Georgia and shop to get her running. Motor is solid but she looks a little rough. When I bought mine I did alot of shopping and found late 70 - early 80's for as much as $15,000.00, these were turn key very nice bikes. Be patient, shovels are an acquired love.. Ditto on doing as much as you can. It's been said, You own a shovel because you like to work on it, you own a evo because you can and you own a twinky because you can't. Be good to her and she will be good to you.... pm sent..

yep... thats what im hearin from everyone..

my pops owns an auto repair shop for a living.. so between me and him im sure we take can of most of the repairs..

brought it to the cycleshop first just to get it running so it would be running correctly, then i can make the tweeks and fixes next time once i know how its supposed to run.

Im acquiring the love little by little, but its hard when its not in my possession since the day after i bought it...

I'm thinkin' 9K is kinda optimistic for that bike, I would say the 5 you paid would be a reasonable estimate. Lots of nice shovels are going unsold for 5-6 asking, so who knows? What have they done to it to run up a $2500 bill already and its still not running?

Shovelhead Nick is the one not running.. Mine is running great been riding for 2 years now, and yes I'm into it a little deep (long story) paid 6,000 for the bike, shippimg from Georgia 900.00, local dealer 1,500.00.. Bike sat for many, many years the dealer told me that 14000 on the odometer was very possible..
