Look at the pump right side looking to engine the top of the oil pump has two slotted screw heads You want to tackle the screw head close to the right case The high tower on the right away from the right case just say no you want the tower toward the right case that is below the other tower ! A manual would show you what I am saying anyhow remove the top slotted screw grab a magnet pull out the spring then pull out the ball bearing now take another ball bearing insert tap the new bearing lightly to re seat take out that ball bearing and drop in a new one close it up After all this oil from the tank will still migrate through the ball check to the bottom end But oh well you gave it hell ! maybe some member will show you a picture and an arrow to the slotted screw to remove !

I usually attach the magnet to the side of a screw driver or flat punch and it will magnitize the punch enough to pull out the ball.

You can also wrap a length of wire around a screw driver or punch and hold the ends to the posts of a battery. Take the tool out of the wire an instant magnet.
