Angry potential damages from valve adj

I pulled a dumb move today. I was trying to get my newly re-built '77 74" running. static timing. I adjusted the valves (wet) but forgot to let the lifters bleed down, before turning to the next rod. The thing that I know I couild have boogered on this is bent pushrods. The bike did start, but I had lots of racket in the front rocker/head. Started again thinking it was a dry tappet. Shoul have stopped and thought about it.
Will the valves slam each other? what other damage should I keep my eye out for? It kills me because I have teched this bike for 7 years. i know what to do but got excited to get her running.

Hold it,the valves could be hitting the pistons causing internal damage. I would pull out the hydraulic lifters, pushrods, inspect them and bleed the lifters down then follow the adjusting procudure in the manual. If you have a low compresion engine you may not have any damage however if you want to check for a bent valve just use a differntial compresion tester and see if it leaks down.Good Luck!

did you verify oil presure? do a leak down on both cylinders, but the t/e noise could have been from no oil pressure.was the motor completely rebuilt or oil pump off?(we always conect a hose from inlet to return on the pump & crank motor over by hand to prime pump, seen them get a pocket of air and never get pressure till primed)

The usual damage from turning the motor over without letting the lifters bleed down is, bent pushrods and/or valve stems. If the bent valve gets stuck open you could do major damage. For peace of mine I would pull the heads and check.
