Hi Bigbore, Yes to the spacer, I have been very careful to keep track of it. Since I don't have a meter to read amps on the battery, I taking it in to be checked. Ihave been going by the charger light (green) and assuming that the battery is fully charged/Amped. The battery got ran down 2 or 3 times on a runaway. Iwill do this friday and let you know. I appreciate the help, but just can't we all learn to get along?
So I think I am running into a similar problem with a few added twists, let me preface by saying I know little to nothing when it comes to bikes this will be my first rebuild ever. However that being said I am hoping to do as much of the work as I can myself. So now the issue. I have a 73 FLH and when I bought it it ran, not well but it did run. I was washing it shortly after and the housing of the solenoid was broken an started sparking and such. So I replaced the solenoid with a new one and ever since then as soon as I apply power to the terminals the solenoid engages the starter and will not stop untill I remove the terminal. Now it does this without the key in the ignition and it does not throw the starter forward to engage, it just spins. Anyone have any idea why the solenoid would engage without the ignition being on? I am typing this now and wondering if maybe I melted a relay or fuse together when the inside of the old solenoid got wet. Any and all thoughts are appreciated.
