I carry a light tool kit made up of a set of allen wrenches, screwdriver, pliers, visegrips, wrenches 7/16 thru 5/8,duct tape, spark plugs, and wire ties. I have found that my freinds use them more on a trip than I do !

I make it a point when I wrenching on the shovel in the shop to use the tool kit I carry. And if pull a tool out of one of the rollaways, it usually goes into the tool kit I carry. (with reasonable exceptions of course, like large prybars, torque wrenches, bearing pullers, slide hammers and such)

But still, I do carry a lot of tools, even a medium ball peen, and a clutch hub puller. Duct tape, mechanics wire, my bags are both about half full, I bet I carry close to 40 45 lbs, don't really know. But it's peace of mind.

Bear in mind, this load may lighten as I gain confidence in this build. It started life with me as a near basket 76 FXE, and now it looks like a nice well kept bagger e-glide. First build too, so my confidence in my wrenching is growing, but not way high yet. I can handle most issues on the road, just wanna have the needed tools. And being pretty cash challanged, would hate to pay for tow truck just I aint got the right tool to handle the situation.

Thanks for the info!
I like the idea of using the tools from the bike when working in the shop, and I think I'll pack some duct tape too. Probably just roll some onto one of my screwdriver shafts since I don't have space for a whole roll.

Ive always carried tools and even some replacement parts, ever had an electronic ignition go out, so i carry a set of points and sstuff to do electrical repair along with a set of tools. Its better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it, also ever tried to get a part quickly for a shovel.
