79 FLH Ignition points
I need help on how to set the points on my 1340 cc shovel. Orignally had electronic ignition and the factory manual does not cover setting points. Gratful for any help. Thanks

Set the points to .018 on the narrow lobe ( highest point ) Now rotate the motor to the fat lobe again this should be set at .018 plus or minus .002 You accomplish this by using a small plastic mallet and striking the nut head that holds the ign cam to the pinion shaft Sound crude doesn't it You tap the nut head to move the cam upward to open the points more or downward to close the points more Now comes the timing part if you need help on that let us know You always time on the front cylinder compression mode
