Default 77 FLH waddayathink?????

Looking to buy my first Harley. Being a heavy equipment mechanic, I'm no stranger to a wrench. I found this 77 FLH locally. New tires, battery and fresh paint on the sheetmetal. Runs strong. Older restoration and engine rebuild about 8K back. This fellow has owned it for 23 years but moved up to a newer scoot. Typical shovelhed oil leaks, but nothing excessive. OD showing 40K miles. Needs a little cleaning and touchup paint on the frame and such. Need a little insight from some folks who know more than I do. Asking price is $5500.

Is he including the oil-soaked cardboard?

j/k, looks like an OK deal, as long as everything mechanical checks out.

I'm with Mongoose - always have oil dry, cardboard, something...... experienced 77 FXE. She always leaves her mark! Deal sounds sbout right, had mine for 19 - still hooked - even on the worst of days w/her.

Paid $5500 for a '77 a few months ago - about the same so it's an okay deal. Better if you can get it lower.

He has the service manual, original seat, exhaust and a box of smaller goodies for it. He and his Dad did the restoration work on it, so safe to say, they have seen just about every piece. Talked to him this AM, I'm going to pick it up this evening.
