Default Shovel Riders 6' and taller..

I'm interested in purchasing a shovel.. I'm 6'5 and i'm wondering if any of you shovel guys are tall like me, and what you've done in mods to make it more comfortable... what model... if there's room for the ol lady still.. how comfortable...etc.

Basically any direction you guys can steer me. I'm new to this and would like to learn, and I'm pretty good at turning wrenches so I'd be excited to learn how to work on them too...

So any advice you can give me i appreciate!

I have floor boards which helps alot along with a Mustang seat and that gives me plenty of comfort with a passenger too!The thing that is important is the year as frames are not all the same. The older round tube frame with a center post is shorter than the square tube frame and that makes a big difference in leg room.

I'm 6' 2" and had a '76 Superglide. It had drivers pegs in the middle of the primary and highway pegs out front. You could also stretch your legs out and rest the back of your lower leg on the highway pegs, so you had 3 foot positions.

I'm 6'2" and I took off the mid shift stuff and put Accutronix Fowards on mine - they kick out either 2" or 4" further and I have no issues with them - pricy but a great product! Changed my handlebars to Chubbies 12" Apes attached to an 8" riser - also from Accutronix. Mine is now comfortable for me personally.

I have an FX and got rid of the mid-pegs and went to forward controls. Added the kuryakyn peg offsets and gained a bunch of leg room. I'm 6' 1" and adjusted them about halfway out, I could get another 2" of stretch easy but then I couldn't really reach the pegs well.

I'm only 5' 11" but I put OEM forward controls on my early'78 FXE and for a while I kept the mid pegs in place. It let me get comfortable when on long rides. On my '52 Pan/Shovel upper in swingarm frame I had 4 sets of pegs. I often gave rides to the 'street treats' for gas money and some times had two or three girls on at a time. Dangerous fun but the gas money was fun. They were mostly too young to pay with *** so the gas was good enough.
Anyway, you will find that you can modify a shovy to fit your frame if you are as 'wrenchy' as you say.
Read my earlier posts about Shovelheads.
Do it and enjoy!

G'day, i am 5'10" but pretty knocked about in the leg department, i have an 82 lowrider, To make things a lot more comfortable i have put boards and a solo seat from an fxrp . no air bag just a couple of double valve springs under it and i have a very comfortable ride. stops cramping me up as i have trouble benbing the leg too far.

Get yer seat down on the frame and back against the rear fender, and put apes on her? Works for me.
