Yes, the tube has no stop at the bottom of it on the later 4 speed frames (basically the good old Duo-Glide design), so a tab must be welded to the bottom. Remember to leave a hole in the tab for the bolt at the bottom of the post to anchor it. For some reason, the diameter of the tube got smaller over the years. If an original FL post wont fit, the post from a 45 will fit...it'll drop right in.
