Front end swap...triple tree problems? Help please
Hi
I am swapping the stock front end out on my 92 FXSTC for an aftermarket chrome. I bought this "complete" front end off ebay. Not sure the brand, but it looks like an Ultima or something from Dennis Kirk, etc. Its a nice looking fron end with hidden axle, etc.
Anyway, here is the problem.
The stem bolt is missing the nut and lock ring, etc. I removed my old front end and the nut has a 1" thread. This front end the stem has a 7/8" thread. The stem is 1" on the bearing so thats OK. Also, my old front end has a hole drilled where the lock plate fits into. This one doesnt. What does it use to lock the nut?
Also, how do I remove the old stem bolt from the old triple tree bottom? Maybe I can re-use that stem.
Thanks for the help. I will see if I can find a link to the front end I have in the meanitime.

From the description of what you have it sounds like you will need a lock washer that has two tabs on the outside edge of it. One tab gets bent over the top tree and the other around the nut. As for the different size nut, find the correct one and install.
