just picked one up tonight, riding home the shifter peg fell off, front cyl. started making a little chatter,im not use to shovels always had evo's and now twin cam.are the shovels more noisey 25 psi oil.sounded like a loose rocker.
Good luck, welcome to the good old days of all Harley riders being their own mechanics. Don't have to worry about ECMs, PCVs, sensors, double wiring....
have fun
Actually a stock shovel is pretty damn quiet. What is the history on the bike (maintenance and service records). If it sat for a while, change the oil and clean the tappet screen. Dirty one will make hydraulic lifters noisy. If for some reason the prior owner switched to solids, then it could something as simple as a pushrod being a little loose.
Personally I am not a big fan of oil pressure gauges on pans and shovels. They can drive you nuts, especially on hot days when you stop and see the needle drop down to almost zero.
Don't mean to laugh but that is some funny $hit....buy new bike old bike, get down the road and parts start falling off. You are definitely not the first and will not be the last. Now you just need to go through it front to back and check all fasteners and such so that the next time you get on and ride, if something comes loose it is because of something you did not do rather than something that someone else supposedly did.
And if you get a chance, please post a pic..or 2...or 3!
