It may be the dread intake leak if the missing is taking place at low speed.
You may have set the float bowl level too low or there is a piece of crud in the high speed circuit restricting fuel flow at higher speeds.

My guess would be an intake leak since it's isolated to the front cylinder getting hot. Get it running and spray the clamps with carb cleaner and if there's a leak the rpm will increase. good luck. keep those shovels running.

So I pulled the carb and manifold off, cleaned out the carb readjusted the float a bit higher replaced everything except jets and outer components, used 2 gaskets ,back to back on intake, gasket glued the intake and carb surface, mounted gaskets back to back, easy on tightening of band clamps, changed petcock, advanced timing ,unfortunately by ear,,fired up right away,no problem idling at warm up rode to the city and back, never performed so good.Twice as i turned off,it ran on for a minute, and spit about a cup of fuel out the overflow, while parked ,realized the new petcock reserve is where the old one was off,,tapped the floatbowl with a wrench,,,she runs great,,,,just wondering about the run on now.
This is a wonderful forum, learning so much,Thanks Guys

A bit more advance on the timing . If you got the manual depending on whether you have points or electronic the static timing procedure will get you damn close if not on the money , within 2 degrees when I light check them .
