Default Carb Issue

I have purchased a 97 RoadKing with 25k miles. The problem is I get a Pop through the carb sometimes when shifting or from idle to pull out. My question is this normal for a carberated EVO? Bike runs great down the road and idles perfect.

Could be slightly learn or a minor intake leak via gasket or vacuum hose for voes if you're running one. It's a place to start.

That CV corb should be "the bomb" check for intake leaks first, as stated above..
Only re-jet/change the carb settings if that reveals absolutely that there is no Intake leak.
Then, generally removal of the "plug" at the low speed adjustment of the carb and a half a twist out should cure this.

Also, check the accelerator pump.

I had to shim my needle one washer. If you have an adjustable needle move the clip down one. This was after rejetting I couldn't get rid of the cough and pop. One shim cleared me up. Something to try if your intake seals are good and everything else is correct

If it's got the stock #42 idle jet in it will do that, go to a 45 or a 48 before pulling it apart and spending money.
