You might want to kneel with your left leg on your seat and let your right leg 'push' it through. If it does kick, it will only push your right, still slightly bent leg up w/o tossing you off the bike or causing you a painful limp for a few days!

The only bike I had to ever really 'stand on' was a 93" S&S panhead we built back in the day. Stock well tuned shovels are pretty easy.

When you get good at it, you'll kick it anyway YOU want!

Yep my 93" shovel is a bit over 11-1 comp and I run 240lbs and can stand the kicker when cold LOL . And your right sure does draw the looks at the local poser bar with all the twinky crew when you fire that mother up with the pedal . ***** envy for the gray hairs LOL

Don't know why it is people have so much trouble kicker starting , I read in here " Romp on it " or " throw your weight into it " or a number or totally wrong bits of advice like that no wonder you guys blow out knees and break **** . Unless it a big inch serious motor or a damned old sportster there's no need to go after that kicker like your trying to stomp something to death . Just push it through , that's all the motor needs if it's in decent shape and has any semblance of a tune up on her . The motor just has to roll over you don't have to try to get 20rpm out of it
