Default '69 FLH #'s

Went to check out a 69 yesterday, wanting to buy. Bike was in pretty original shape, but I got scared off when I saw #'s stamped in left side case. The 69 at beginning were the same stamp, the # 9 was just the stamp turned upside down, real obvious. It also looked way different then the rest of the stamped #'s. The last digit in serial # was a 6 and obviously way different then the # 6 in the beginning date stamp of 69. It just didn't look right to me. Could this be right, or did I do the right thing by walking away? Hope this is clear.
Thanks for any help.

panz4ever,
You are the man. Glad to see you on shovelhead site, at least I know you know what you're talking about. That's exactly what different font I was looking at. I balked, but your saying it's right? Don't want to get burned, but do you see what i'm talking about? Might have to take another looksee.
Thanks

Love that site www.shovelhead.us (never hurts to promote it!)

And yes those are good numbers. Pic came from www.vintageamericanmotorcycles.com It is a free site and owned by Chris Haynes. Lots of cool old information on it. He has one whole section on vin/belly numbers. Interesting how they changed over the years. Included are some pics of some bogus numbers as well, but the pic I put up are legit numbers. My 65 has the same goofy looks on the vin.
