Why would you put a used bearing back in? You've tore it down this far, put in a new bearing!

you are absolutely right Al,,as I also remember this one came off a 78,,mines an 82,,i know the bearing is different,,wondering if the mainshaft on tranny from 78 is different size

Tranny shaft is 1" on both your safe and I believe the later model had a thinner bearing .
