77 Lowrider. The speedometer does nothing at any speed. I pulled the dash off to see if the cable was screwed. Seems OK. I dont have a way to elevate front tire yet or I would give it a spin.


So how should I go about testing the speedometer.

Sounds like the speedo cable broke.Unscrew from the back of the guage.Once you have the cable(top end) in your hand start to unscrew from front tire.I'm almost positive the cable is shot

Did you get the broken piece out?

 

I cant yank the broken piece out. I pulled the gear out to see if I could drive it out w/ a punch.. No dice.

New drive unit coming. I got a cable from local indy shop for cheap.

Damn that sucks,cables are usually a cheap fix.Usually the cable breaks from the speedo end
